Disney's first Marvel underway

Posted by FISH On Thursday, March 11, 2010

After all the rumours, interjections and couple of tweets by Stan Lee (Marvel Comics), it seems "The-Antman" has been given a green light. Ant-man is marvel character, which along with entire collection of Marvel, including Spiderman, X-men, Ironman and Fantastic Four, was aquired by Disney last year for $4 billion. Edgar Wright, director of Shaun of the dead, has already completed the first draft of Antman. Also, Disney's domain minions StitchKingdom.com have been registering every possible combination of 'Antman' and 'The Movie'.
All this clearly indicates that Antman can see the light of the movie screen very soon.

However, Antman is actually one of the founding members of the The Avengers. With The Avengers' screenplay already finished and Antman's on the verge of getting started, it would right to speculate that 'Antman' could be introduced in The Avengers film before getting his own movie.

Antman is a character who can shrink himself to a size of an insect, but retains his superpower strength and can telepathically communicate with insect kingdom. Here is a short history about the Antman taken from the Marvel website:

"Scott Lang was an electronic engineer who was unable to support his family, and decided to turn to crime. He was caught and sentenced to 5 years in jail, but got out early for good behavior. Once freed he began to work at Stark International's design department. When his daughter was diagnosed with a fatal heart condition, Lang sought help from Dr. Erica Sondheim, who was kidnapped by Cross Technological Enterprises founder Darren Cross, for help with his own heart condition. In order to rescue her, and save his daughter, Lang broke in to the home of Dr. Henry Pym, the first Ant-Man, and stole his technology. After a successful rescue, Lang tried to turn himself in, but Pym allowed him to keep the suit, but for the purpose of good."
