Simplistic store-front icon - Giveaway

Posted by FISH On Wednesday, June 23, 2010

Everything that I do today, in terms of web design or graphics, I use only Photoshop. I always knew that with illustrator I could do more, but never had time or the inclination to get around it.

For weeks, I have been trying to implement a simple 3D effect in Photoshop, tried everything but failed miserably.
Therefore, I finally decided to pick up Illustrator and start with it. This is the first tutorial I followed and the result was pretty neat.

As you can see from the image, Illustrator is a very powerful tool in making some clean vectors. I have modified few colors and gradient angles to give the icon a more realistic feel.

If you like what you see then you can download the source file in the format that you want. One more thing that is good about illustrator is that it gives you the ability to export the file to photoshop while preserving important information. I have exported the document to photoshop with 300 dpi with maximum edit-ability, so feel free to play around with it.  Let me know what you think about the icon, like it / hate it. Would love to know your views on it.
